Andrew Yap established and ran a law practice for over two decades before recently integrating it with Covenant Chambers LLC.
He has been actively engaged in the legal aspects of corporate and commercial matters including joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions. He has extensive involvement in commercial and real property transactions. Andrew has advised on several Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) transactions in Singapore. He has also advised on international development and turn-key projects involving multinationals in other ASEAN nations.
Andrew has been retained as a legal adviser by a number of local and international corporations both in Singapore and in the region. He acted as lawyer and legal adviser for the Widjaja Kusuma Group of Indonesia in its US$600 million Power Plant project in Java, a project which brought together PowerGen plc of the United Kingdom, Morrison Knudsen Corporation of the United States, China Machine Building International Corporation of China and financiers Rothschilds amongst others.
Andrew has acted for a number of property developers in Singapore and has also represented most local Banks in property-related transactions and securitisation. Notably, he was involved in a housing development project from its inception to the completion and sale of all units. He has extensive experience in handling real estate development, and residential and commercial property-related matters.
In the area of banking and finance, Andrew has represented the major local Banks (DBS, OCBC, UOB) and foreign Banks including Maybank, Standard Chartered Bank and The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation relating to mortgages and property financing. He specialises in conveyancing and property law.
Andrew Yap was appointed a Commissioner for Oaths in May 1987 and a Notary Public in April 1996 and continues to hold these appointments to date.
