Charis Wong
Associate Director
Since joining Covenant Chambers in 2017, Charis has acted in a broad range of matters spanning commercial and civil litigation, and family law. Charis enjoys the cut and thrust of litigation and has argued before the High Court, as well as the District and Family Courts.
In the course of her varied litigation practice, Charis has successfully acted for her clients to enforce a settlement agreement valued at approximately S$6 million in a cross-border dispute between Vietnamese and Australian shareholders of a Singapore holding company, obtain a worldwide freezing injunction against several defendants prohibiting the disposal of their assets up to the value of S$2 million in the High Court in aid of arbitration, and overturn a District Court judgement on defamation on appeal. Charis also acted for two food supply companies in its successful appeal to the Competition Appeals Board against an infringement decision issued by the Competition Consumer Commission of Singapore.
Charis is a firm believer in mediation. She believes in adopting the lens of therapeutic justice in the conduct of her cases, especially in family law cases which often involve powerful emotions and have lasting consequences on the parties and their children, even after the case has concluded in Court.
Charis is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and volunteers in community legal clinics.
